April 24, 2021
It’s the return of the FAST! On Saturday, April 24 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, we will hold our first in-person FAST (Fun Activities & Skills Training) Program for 2021.
And what better way to kick it off then with a fun activity that involves music and movement. Join us for a mid-day session of cardio drumming with Julie, Stringball with Martin, and Soccer with Will. This activity will allow us to discuss and work on spatial awareness in a fun and exciting way.
We’ll rotate between activities, so you’ll be able to try all three. We plan on dry sunny weather so we can be outside, but if the weather forces us inside, we will have other activities planned for the indoors that will also permit us to be socially distanced.
Please RSVP by Thursday, April 22, 2021.
If you have any questions or need assistance registering, please contact Director of Youth Services Martin Becerra-Miranda at mbecerra@cocenter.org or by calling (303) 778-1130 Ext: 223

Explore tactile examples of the state mammal, tree and more. Use a tactile outline and colorful air-dry clay to create the Colorado State Flag! It is all in this month’s Learning Box activity – a book about Colorado with five unique tactile graphics
Register by this Sunday and receive your Learning Box before April 25. We’ll read a short story, which you can get in 18 point large print and Braille. Along with the outline of Colorado's flag, there will be Four tactile pictures with magnetic backing that students can insert into the book as we read.
This book and the activity are designed for elementary, middle and high school students who are blind or low vision.
April 25, 2021, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
Preregistration is required by Sunday, April 18 so that Learning Boxes can be prepared and shipped in time. Please register your student at the link below.

How come’s & What if’s? On Saturday, May 22 from 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM, we’ll all be asking these questions. Our FAST (Fun Activities & Skills Training) Program returns for another fun and engaging in-person activity! Join us for a mid-day full of creativity! Renowned Tactile Artist, Ann Cunningham, and Creative Activist, Rishika Kartik will lead our journey of a reading of “Mort the Mouse Goes on an Adventure.” Participants can enjoy the story and tactile pictures and join us for a critical analysis of the content and pictures. This will serve as a jumping off point to tell your own stories. Following this, we will break up into two different groups; one will be working on a writing activity, while the other group works on an illustration activity, students will have the chance to participate in both. All students who attend will receive a copy of the book. We will also have a maze set up in the gym for all to try! The goal of this FAST program is to unleash our creative side and encourage one another to get involved in hands-on and brains-on ways to express ourselves.
After our writing and illustration activities (at 12 PM), we will be serving pizza for all to enjoy. Please make sure to tell us ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions.
Please RSVP by 10:00 PM on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
