Focused, intense training in cane travel will transform an apprehensive, timid student into a confident traveler capable of going anywhere. We welcome dog guide users and work with them to increase their skills in using the long white cane.
Going to work, running errands, and meeting a friend for dinner are everyday things that blind people can do! Our cane travel curriculum includes how to use public transportation including bus, light rail train; how to cross intersections of all types and difficulty. Our travel teachers are certified mobility and orientation instructors.

Rather than fostering an atmosphere of trepidation that would steer wide of any perceived hazard, students learn to be aware of their total environment. Indeed, everyone walks past this “hazard” every day.
