Get ready to dig, buzz, explore, and have some fun! Our next FAST event is going to be a hands-on science day you won’t want to miss!
The Colorado Talking Book Library will be bringing dinosaur eggs for students to “excavate” – just like a paleontologist! Students will learn some fun dinosaur facts and get to hear about the services available to them through the Talking Book Library.
Then things are going to get buzzing! Our resident beekeeper, Dan Hlavinka, will be joining us for a hands-on look at bees and beekeeping. He’ll bring tactile models of different types of bees, including both large-scale and actual-size models. Students will learn what it takes to maintain a hive and how beekeeping can be done as a blind person. Students will also check out the different pieces of equipment he uses, from moving bees to separating honey.
Dinosaurs, bees, tactile models, and hands-on science…what more could you ask for?
