The Colorado Center for the Blind is pleased to announce its No Limits to Learning program for blind teens and young adults for the summer of 2026, with 3-week and 6-week options. No Limits to Learning is a residential program for ages 15–21.
“Being part of the summer program allowed me to be myself and make new friends.”
“I learned I can do so many more things as a blind person than I ever imagined!”
Our No Limits to Learning programs have empowered hundreds of teens to gain confidence, independence, and pride in their abilities as blind people.
You will:
- Learn from confident blind adults who use their blindness skills every day.
- Make friends who are also blind.
- Live in an apartment with a counselor and roommate.
- Plan, shop and prepare delicious meals.
- Learn to go where you want to go with a long white cane
- Learn the skills and strategies for living independently.
- Develop effective nonvisual skills and confidence using learning shades in travel, technology, Braille and Home Management classes.
- Build interviewing skills, learn about careers, find job leads, write a resume and more.
- Practice effective self-advocacy skills for school, college, job or just life!
- Challenge yourself with rock climbing, learning martial arts, water sports, playing goalball, and more.
- Learn about the many and varied careers that blind people enjoy – and you can do, too!
Students in the 6-week program will also attend the 2026 National Federation of the Blind Convention in Austin, Texas, along with Colorado Center for the Blind staff and ITP students.
To be considered for the 6-week program, students must submit an essay via email by the application deadline of April 17. The essay must be at least 300 words in length and describe how attending the National Convention would impact the applicant’s life. (No essay is required for the 3-week program.)
Located in Littleton, Colorado, our Center offers easy access to downtown Denver and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We maintain a strong focus on safety and security, following the Youth Protection Policy established by the National Federation of the Blind. All staff receive extensive training prior to the students’ arrival. Students live in apartments with a counselor and receive consistent supervision.
How to Apply
- The student, along with their parent, TVI, or VR counselor, completes the Summer Youth Application Form. (Don’t forget to email the essay to tmoon@cocenter.org by April 17 if applying for the 6-week program.)
- Once the application is received, the Director of Youth Programs will conduct an interview with the student and parent to determine if the program is a good fit.
- If all agree the program is a match, families will be asked to provide supplemental information such as any medications, allergies, or other necessary information to ensure the student's well-being during their program.
- Cost of No Limits to Learning is typically covered by the applicant’s state Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program as a part of the Pre-ETS (transition) programs. If the applicant is not yet receiving these Pre-ETS services, we can provide guidance on how to apply for VR funding in your state.
- Apply early! Space is limited, and applications are accepted through April 17.
