Policy Limiting Donation of Electronics

Call First!

Please call the Center at 303-778-1130 before bringing electronics equipment to the Center to donate. We will no longer accept equipment drop-offs.

We regret that we must limit donations of electronics of all kinds to those which are less than two years old. Items we are limiting include equipment specifically for the blind and those losing vision. Items which are older than two years will not be accepted, including CCTV magnification/reading machines, computers/laptops, computer monitors, printers, scanners, electronic Braille displays and Braille embossers.

We very much appreciate the fact that this equipment is expensive. It seems that it could be used by others when a family member dies or can no longer use it, but the fact is that we do not have the capacity to redistribute such equipment. CCTVs, computers, and software become outdated very quickly, as we all know. In the end, these generously-intended donations cost us in the form of staff time, significant storage space, and money to send all this outdated and unusable electronic equipment to electronics recycling centers. No blind person benefits.

We thank you for complying with this policy and not bringing used technology to the Center without pre-approval.
