World-Renowned Training Center

We believe you can do anything as a blind person. So, every day, we encourage and challenge you—and you come to understand your potential as you build the skills and confidence to live the life you want. Because when you believe in yourself and experience a thriving community of positive blind people, nothing can hold you back from pursuing your dreams.

The Colorado Center for the Blind is located in Littleton, about a dozen miles south of downtown Denver, and proudly affiliated with the National Federation of the Blind. Founded in 1988, the Colorado Center for the Blind has grown into a world-renowned blindness-skills training center attracting students from across the United States and beyond. Nearly all of our instructors are blind, and thus we, too, “walk the walk” every single day…

Would giving a small monthly amount help you give as much as you'd like to the Colorado Center for the Blind?

You can do that! Just pick your monthly amount, then check the box that says "Recurring."

And if you do, your first month's contribution will be matched by the Colorado Gives Foundation! Colorado Gives has dedicated $250,000 to encourage donors to set up recurring contributions.

The Colorado Center for the Blind receive $280.00 per month from 9 separate donors this year - thank you all! That's a total of $3360.00 over the year.

Isn't it great how that adds up? And now we have a new recurring donor whose first month's contribution of $50.00 was matched by the Colorado Gives Foundation! So, please consider whether a recurring donation will make it easier for you to give what you'd really like to give toward our life-changing programs for blind people.

Make a recurring donation for Colorado Gives 2025!

Our Programs

Independence Training Program for Adults (ITP)

Our Independence Training Program (ITP) is designed for blind adults (18 years of age and older). Typically students complete the program in six to nine months while residing in nearby McGeorge Mountain Terrace apartments, which are owned by the Center. Participants not only build the skills that they need to be independent, but also focus on gaining confidence and belief in themselves as blind people

All the Learning Isn’t in Class

It’s not all screen readers and street crossings. Just as much learning happens while skiing with Ignite at Eldora, hitting the skid pad with Master Drive, or hanging around by the piano before classes start.

"It's all about that cane, 'bout that cane, 'bout that cane ... " Vanessa S. and Alejandro borrowed a melody and got the biggest cheer - a roar, actually - at the talent show on Wednesday.
