World-Renowned Training Center

We believe you can do anything as a blind person. So, every day, we encourage and challenge you—and you come to understand your potential as you build the skills and confidence to live the life you want. Because when you believe in yourself and experience a thriving community of positive blind people, nothing can hold you back from pursuing your dreams.

The Colorado Center for the Blind is located in Littleton, about a dozen miles south of downtown Denver, and proudly affiliated with the National Federation of the Blind. Founded in 1988, the Colorado Center for the Blind has grown into a world-renowned blindness-skills training center attracting students from across the United States and beyond. Nearly all of our instructors are blind, and thus we, too, “walk the walk” every single day…

Latest News Summary

By Dan Burke, 29 November, 2025

We touch lives every day at the Colorado Center for the Blind because we believe in blind people. We never take this for granted. Rather, it humbles us and fills us with admiration for the students, youth and seniors who embrace our philosophy of self-determination and benefit by taking charge of their lives as blind people.

The late Bob Bell was such a senior. He worked a number of years ago with Anahit in our Senior program. in honor of Bob and the value he and his family placed on our services to him, we humbly announce a challenge match from Bob's family of $25,000 for the 2025 Colorado Gives Day campaign!

You can touch lives, too, by making a donation to the Colorado Center for the Blind for Colorado Gives Day right now - and have your generosity matched by the Bob bell family Challenge Match! just go to the link below and make your donation. It will automatically be matched!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we thank the Bell family and all of you for your generosity toward us and our programs. We believe in blind people, and we can't tell you how grateful we are that you believe in what we do!

Touch lives and help us make the match!

Our Programs

Independence Training Program for Adults (ITP)

Our Independence Training Program (ITP) is designed for blind adults (18 years of age and older). Typically students complete the program in six to nine months while residing in nearby McGeorge Mountain Terrace apartments, which are owned by the Center. Participants not only build the skills that they need to be independent, but also focus on gaining confidence and belief in themselves as blind people

All the Learning Isn’t in Class

It’s not all screen readers and street crossings. Just as much learning happens while skiing with Ignite at Eldora, hitting the skid pad with Master Drive, or hanging around by the piano before classes start.
